About

Mark lives in a small village in the lovely county of Cumbria, although his books are set in Oxfordshire where he was born and raised.
Mark served in the Royal Navy, and was left to raise his two daughters alone after being widowed. He finally took the plunge and self-published two books on Amazon, The Revelation Room and The Eyes of the Accused.

He’s always had a keen interest in writing, and is extremely proud to have his third novel, The Abattoir of Dreams, published, and The Revelation Room and The Eyes of the Accused relaunched by Bloodhound Books.

When he’s not writing, Mark can be found trying and failing to master blues guitar,
and taking walks around the beautiful county of Cumbria.

So, welcome to the blog. This is where like-minded souls can come to discuss all things writing and publishing. Hope you find the topics interesting, informative and thought-provoking. There will be new posts on the third Monday of each month.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

  1. Hello Mark… Found you via my friend who retweeted a blog on twitter… You have so many helpful links, i’ve joined some communities and followed you on your media links… IAM preparing to publish my own first book after the summer, so expanding my friendship base…. New website is being built. I do have one question for you as I see you distribute through smash words… I was all prepared to do this but read marks american points that I have to apply for a tin no as a foreigner to be able to distribute it via them. I really don’t want to have to do this for personal reasons… Do you know of any other way or did you do this? Also do you print paper backs and who did you find to do it… IAM looking at ingramspark. Nice to meet you and here’s to a good friendship… IAM a fellow English lady born in Derbyshire ½ a century ago… Barbara

    • Hello Barbara,

Thank you for taking the time to comment and hope you find the links in the posts useful.
I didn’t have any trouble uploading my book onto Smashwords. I had to make sure that I used one of their free ISBN numbers as the retailers they send the book to request they have them. I gave Smashwords my PAYPAL e-mail to have my royalties paid to me. Smashwords is well laid out but if had any questions it’d be best to ask them before trying to upload your book.
I currently only sell ebooks, but I’m looking into Amazon’s print on demand service, which I believe print a single book each time one is ordered, for a small fee. It’s the service that the majority of authors use.

I hope all goes well with your book and it’s nice to meet you too.

      Mark.
