Today, Tilbury Talks To… Eva Merckx. Thank you for taking part today Eva, please would you introduce yourself?
My name is Eva, 40-something and I live in Belgium with my husband and 14 year old Maltese, Yoshi. I like wine, boots and books, though not necessarily in that order and dream of living in Tuscany one day. I started blogging in early 2017 and haven’t looked back since.
What went through your head when you first decided to start your book blog?
I’d been going back and forth about it for a few months but this little voice inside my head kept telling me the world didn’t really need yet another book blogger as there were so many around already. I’d say the overwhelming feeling when I finally took that step was sheer and utter panic. I didn’t really feel like I had a clue what I was doing (most days, I still don’t) and was astounded when people started asking me to read their books.
What are the best and worst things about being a book blogger?
The best things are of course the books but also the wonderful friends I’ve made. It is said a lot that this is the most wonderfully supportive and friendly community but it’s definitely true. It makes me wish I’d started my blog way sooner than I did. I’ve made some amazing friends along the way and although we’ve never met in person, I can’t imagine my life without them.
The worst? It is a lot more work than I bargained for. I wouldn’t necessarily call that bad but sometimes I’d just like to sit down and read and not worry about commitments and deadlines. Continue reading
